Plasterboard is available in a multitude of sizes and because it has a plaster core it is well insulated for fire and sound. 

However, you can add extra fibres to make it more durable and for humid areas like bathrooms the boards can come wax treated. To get the best from dry lining always consider the area in which it is being placed.

Fixing depends on your specific needs and can be either directly attached to a wall with special adhesive or affixed with screws.  The boards should be thoroughly prepared to give a smooth surface prior to applying any paint or other decorative materials. However, once ready, the dry lining can be customised to meet any particular aesthetic.  

Dry lining represents a fast, quick and relatively easy solution to building issues and also increases thermal insulation and help alleviate problems with condensation.

However, it must be correctly positioned and installed to make sure no open air pockets remain behind the lining as this can affect how the wall performs.  

Once correctly installed, however, it provides a long term, attractive and cost effective way of improving the efficiency, décor and appearance of a building.
